Bertempat di Gedung Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Diponegoro Semarang, English Department Student Association ( EDSA ), sebuah organisasi yang berdiri di bawah  naungan FIB UNDIP pada bulan Mei  telah mengajar sebuah event besar di bawah naungan FIB UNDIP pada bulan Mei telah mengelar sebuah event besar yaitu Metamorphoedsa. Acara yang diselenggarakan oleh himpunan mahasiswa jurusan S1 Sastra Inggris ini berlangsung selama 4 hari. Seminar Nasional dan English Competition difokuskan pada 3 hari pertama. Seminar yang berlangsung pada 21 Mei 2010 ini bertemakan” Membangun Bangsa dengan Pendidikan Budaya”. Pada kesempatan itu EDSA menghadirkan dua pembicara yaitu sitok Srengenge seorang budayawan asal Semarang dan Mulyo Hadi, salah seorang dosen FIB UNDIP. Berbeda dengan tahun lalu, tahun ini EDSA mengelar English Competition tingkat SMA se Jateng yang meliputi lomba Story telling, News casting dan Debate dengan hadiah yang fantastis. Adapun juri dalam lomba ini adalah beberapa dosen dan mahasiswa berprestasi FIB UNDIP. English Competition ini berlanngsung selama dua hari, babak penyisihan pada tanggal 22 Mei dan babak final pada tanggal 23 Mei.

English Department, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University Workshop on Teaching Development aims to assist English language teachers and lecturers in developing their teaching method and resources by addressing some issues related to teaching English language as a foreign language. Jointly organized by English Department, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, Semarang and RELO (Regional English Language Office), Embassy of the United States, Jakarta, the National Seminar-Workshop on Teaching Development - Student Motivation: Fostering Students’ Eagerness to Learn is a continuation of a previous workshop on Teaching Development: Time Saving Strategies Workshop held on April 22^nd, 2010.

English is the mandatory subject in schools and higher education institutions in Indonesia; therefore, teachers may meet students who are not motivated in studying English. Working with the unmotivated students are not only making the progress slow, but it is surely also making the process painful as both the students and the teachers are forcing each other toward the goals.  This one day seminar-workshop offers the basic thoughts of how the students can be motivated and the practical ways of motivating the students through inspiring language learning activities.
